Stair treads – Install stair risers first. Staircase steps are the vertical plates on the back of each step. The back of the treads will overlap tabicas. Sweep sub treads, if applicable. Sub treads are rough boards installed flushing with the top of staircases during the design phase. Not all builders use sub treads, but if your staircase has them, they will provide additional stability.

Start at the top of the stairs and apply stairway tread glue to tops staircases. Stair-sticks, also called stair ringers, are the two side frames that will support stairway treads. Apply a 1/4 inch pearl of glue. Down in the middle of each stair jacket. If you have sub treads, add a pearl of glue into a zigzag pattern over the sub-tread. Place the staircase on the staircase shaft, center it and tighten it on the connectors. Drill two pilot holes through the top of the treadmill on either side, just down the stairs. Space the screws evenly.

Put the finish screws in each pilot hole. Perform screws function very small heads that you can lower below the surface of the tread. Use a drill fitted with a little screw to insert screws. Reinforce tread from the back of the staircase if you have access. If the underside of the staircase is still open, walk around and drill two evenly distributed pilot holes in the back of the stair riser, where it overlaps the trailing edge of the tread. Insert a screw into each hole.
